(POMPANO BEACH, Fla. – PR LOG – May 28, 2015) Hammers are hammering away as “Designing Spaces of Hope – Military Makeover” presented by Nissan heads into the home stretch. The four-part series chronicles the room-by-room renovations of the Florida house of injured veteran and Purple Heart recipient 1st Lt. Robert Keefe, Jr., his wife Bianca and their three children. Don’t miss episode #3 airing on Friday, May 29, 2015 at 7:00 a.m. (ET/PT) on Lifetime® TV.

Who is Lt. Robert M. Keefe? He grew up in Okeechobee, FL, met his wife there, and decided to enlist in the Marine Corps. Lt. Keefe was deployed in Afghanistan and served as a Platoon Commander. His Humvee hit an Improvised Explosive Device (IED) right under his seat, causing severe spine injuries, traumatic brain injury, PTSD, and memory loss which rendered him unable to continue military service.

To accomplish the mission of making a difference and creating a safer and more comfortable home for the Keefe’s, valued partners teamed up with Designing Spaces to provide generous donations:

• Mission: Garage Makeover – with Gladiator® Garage Works by Whirlpool Corp.
For many homeowners, a garage is often cluttered with tools, toys and sports equipment. To show how the Keefe family can turn their garage space into efficient footage, is Karl Champley, TV home improvement expert, and Gladiator® brand spokesperson.
Gladiator® Garage Works by Whirlpool Corp provides and installs several items to help the Keefe’s organize their space and keep everything in its place, from a solid bamboo workbench, hanging wall systems and Gladiator® Claw™ bike hooks to get items off the floor; to a Chillerator® refrigerator. Mario Santana offers a security consultation and takes viewers on a tour to point out what will be done to increase security, from installing interior and exterior video cameras to image motion sensors. Michael Keen from Protection 1 discusses the “brain of the operation,” a touch screen keypad that can be accessed remotely to control home automation features like setting the thermostat, or checking if the kids are back from school. Plus, with a monitored home security system in the house, homeowners can save money on energy and insurance bills!

“We are honored to be part of this series,” said Jamie Haenggi, Chief Marketing and Customer Experience Officer for Protection 1. “As a USAA Strategic Alliance partner as well as a company proud to serve our military members, providing a home security and automation system to this family gave all of our employees a great sense of pride. We hope to provide the entire family with a higher sense of safety and security in their home, something the men and women of the military provide America every day.”

• Dramatic Room Transformations – with Croscill Home
A room can be dramatically transformed with the right items and knowing your objectives. To bring a personalized touch of design to the Keefe home, Military Makeover brought in David Cipperman, creative director at Croscill Home.

“We are going into the areas that are our specialty; the master bedroom, the bathroom and the living room. It’s one thing to go in and spend a fortune on new towels, drapes, pillows or bedding, but my goal is to show the viewers of Designing Spaces that it can be done without spending a fortune, and you can get maximum bang for the buck. You will see how the approach here is really as a DIY project,” said Cipperman.

And don’t miss Episode 4, the big reveal to see how all the décor comes together! For more information on Croscill, an established name in traditional bedding and fashion bath collections, please visit: www.croscill.com
