On this special episode of Designing Spaces: Spaces of Hope, we’re continuing our work at the Oscar Mike Foundation compound, a home base for disabled veterans. As we inch toward reveal day, we’re on-site with more generous companies ready to give back.

The Oscar Mike Foundation has one primary mission: keep injured veterans on the move. The organization provides an outlet to thousands of veterans through life-changing adaptive sports programs, experiences, and other events.

Many of them hang out or live in the Oscar Mike Foundation’s 9,000-square-foot home in Poplar Grove, Ill., which includes 17 beds, an adaptive weight-training room, an outdoor sports court and much more. It serves as a rehabilitation center for veterans and a home base for the foundation.

On this episode, Designing Spaces continues the remodel it started last year. Last week, three new companies came prepared to lend a helping hand during the renovations. Now, we’ve got four more corporations ready to jump in on the action!

First up: Fresh Coat Painters is providing a highly skilled team of painters and tons of paint – all in hopes of creating a welcoming and relaxing space for the deserving veterans and volunteers to enjoy.

Did you know the Honored American Veterans Afield (HAVA) serves more than 10,000 disabled veterans and their families? Now they’re ready to give the Oscar Mike veterans a taste of what they do.

The renovation would not be complete without a visit to an American Signature furniture store. That’s why our interior designer Jen is busy at Value City Furniture, hand-picking every single piece of furniture for the veterans.

Plus, the Oscar Mike staff and their group of volunteers are in major need of a tire upgrade. Good thing Hercules is here, supplying brand-new sets of tires for all company vehicles.
